Marvel vs. Capcom 2: Wednesday Release

And the party continues as XBLA releases one more big player. Of course all the die-hard arcade gamers know what I am referring to – Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Developed by Backbone Entertainment, it promises to be hours of button-bashing happiness for fans (alright, so those are really strategically played out moves and combos... just keep in mind that some of us are quite fond of  button bashing).

Wednesday Releases: Monkey Island and Madballs

Looks like two big games were jostling for the must-have game spot on XBLA yesterday. That's right; The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Madballs in Babo Invasion both made their way to the downloadable content section on Wednesday.

First up, there's The Secret of Monkey Island which is available for 800 MS points. Old school gamers will remember this one. Alright, to be fair, most self-respecting hardcore gamers, young and old, will be acquainted with this one. It contains a zany story-line – as in pirates with a 'hey hey ho and a bottle of rum'! - complete with a fantastic sense of humor. Of course, this means you will find yourself laughing out loud at all strange and off-topic speech choices.

Battlefield 1943 out on XBLA

There seems to be only one game coming out on XBLA today and that is Battlefield 1943. Developed by DICE, this arcade-style shooter is ideal for folks who are slightly nostalgic about the Second World War. Or anyone who simply loves a bit of tank-blasting, gun-toting, plane-flying action in their spare time.

Looks like you get three locations (Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima or Wake Island) where you can have a nice smashathon using a wide variety of vehicles and weapons. And yeah, did I mention that the you get to utilize land, air or sea vehicles? The multiplayer capability is going to be a big plus in this game. As it is, the game is said to allow up to 24 players in the field. In case you are wondering which uniforms you will be donning, you get to choose between being in the Imperial Japanese Army or United State Marine.

Worms 2: Armageddon and King of Fighters out today

How about that? Worms 2 is coming out on XBLA today. Well, if you are a fan of those cute crawly creatures, you will want to check out Worms 2: Armageddon. So what is new? Seems like the good folks might have added to the arsenal of these super pink fighters. This includes super bunker buster, Buffalo of lies, the Holy Hand Grenade, the baseball bat (hurrah!), napalm and the petrol bomb.

Players can also look forward to a variety of new modes (e.g. rope racing mode and fort mode). You are also going to get a whole lot more arenas. Examples on the list include Cheese Moon, Construction Site and Medieval England. Looks like the guys behind the game heard all the complaints and whining and decided the first game did not do justice to this cult classic.
