I know, I know, it seems like forever that we have all been anxiously awaiting this so called downloaded exclusive content for Grand Theft Auto IV. And while numerous hit titles have debuted in the wherewith while, there is still no promised lofty content from Microsoft and Rockstar Games. And if I remember correctly, they promised us such content in November of 2008, and still NO CONTENT! I know, because being a huge GTA fan and nut, this pisses me off more than anything else in recent video gaming years. For more reasons than one they need more GTA IV content. Because the game is limited when compared to older versions that have more things to drive and ride, more side missions and things to go into—like clothing stores and banks—and far more hours of endless, joyful playing time. But I can tell you that honestly there will be no more delays.
The Japanese and the Chinese have the right mindset when it comes to the illustrious notions of what is commonly referred to as the nice way to rip off a candid and originally idea: reverse engineering. But when the Asians reverse engineer a product, like a car or a TV or a computer, they make it better than the original. Which is why so many people drive Toyotas or buy Sony products. So when it comes to a video game, here is a good rule of thumb: don’t rip off a game and do it shoddily and then expect gamers like me not to call you on your ruckus, because when you do make a bad rip off and it clearly shows, you are just making ample fodder for my many reviews to bite your game into pieces and tell my readers exactly how it really is. So now, getting back on track, when it comes to the worst rip off game that I have ever seen, Saint’s Row – this notion is so true it makes me shriek.
Just when you thought that it was nearly impossible for another carbon-copy video game to try and make the light of day under a bad Grand Theft Auto rip-off premise, guess what: people will forever and for ten years, actually until the end of time, try to rip-off parts and ideas from the illustrious Grand Theft Auto franchises just to make their quick break and buck in the next generation video gaming market. And just because the lauded GTA series has fully delivered, does not mean that imitators will not avidly try and fail many times over in making a game that can even be remotely compared the best free-world shooter ever made: Grand Theft Auto. But they will continue to try, and they will continue to fail. It’s the natural way of things in the video gaming market, unfortunately.
You are a Russian immigrant, in the US illegally here to see your uncle, who has gotten himself into a whirl of trouble with the mob. From the moment you get off the boat that you stowed away, and enter the Rockstar version of New York City, dubbed Liberty City, hell is unleashed. Now you must payoff cops, kill assassins, date women, rob stores, steal cars and basically climb your way up from the bottom of the criminal underworld in a major metropolis to survive. And that is just the beginning.
So many games, so little time to burn out your thumbs and acquire a case of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) playing them. But if you are like me, and your wrists are more worn out than a ninety year old carpenter, then you already know that there are ample amounts of great games that were released for the Xbox 360 during 2008. Of course, it would be far too lengthy for me to ever truly list them and yap about all of them for you in this blog. So I have been forced to boil it down to what I believe are the top three Xbox 360 games of 2008.
Grand Theft Auto IV: This game truly takes the wholly cake and the icing too for the best damn game ever to be created. You play a cunning and illegal Russian immigrant who must forge his way through the unforgiving alleyways of New York City, dubbed Liberty City for this game.
