Best Three Backwards Compatible Games on Xbox 360

Add Comment

There are roughly a bit over a hundred of backwards compatible games (games that work from the old Xbox to the Xbox 360 provided that you have downloaded the required emulator from Microsoft) that one can play on the Xbox 360. However, many of them just plain suck when crossed over. Yet at the same time there are few titles that just have never been downplayed since their glory days on the original Xbox. So, let’s take a look at my top three picks for crossover games that are still fun to play today!

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2
One of the best skateboarding video games ever to be created—and this game added the front and rear manual tricks and the build-a-park editor. To this day I still enjoy the simplicity of this game, the tricks and the custom boards. And yes…Skate 2 rocks!

Red Faction 2
This game was perhaps the best shooter and multiplayer death match game of its time. It is now being remade into a free-world game for the Xbox 360.

Top Five Ways that Xbox Live Could be a Whole Lot Better!

Add Comment

If you are an avid Xbox 360 gamer, then you already have – without me having to even second guess – taken your gaming prowess to the next level by signing up for and using the all too popular internet medium that comprises Xbox Live. But let’s not be brash here shall we? Indeed, Xbox Live is a product of Microsoft, their servers and their defunct software. That being stated, we all know that it can be glitch-ridden and frustrating from time to time, or all of the time! So read on further to know why it sucks and how they could make it better!

Top Five Ways that Xbox Live Could be a Whole Lot Better!
1. No more freaking Xbox Live Points! This is a conundrum that really peeves me off! You already pay tons of cash to play the games, but now you have to pay to go Live? Please!
2. Real time servers that are updated! That’s right…how about giving us servers that can actually handle the intense payload that they are struggling to barely cover at the present?

What Ever Happened to Virtual Reality Games: None for the Xbox 360

Add Comment

Do you ever recall all of those different virtual reality games that were out there floating around in the late nineties and throughout the first part of this new century. Well if you do, then – as the picture to upper left demonstrates – you would easily recall that such games required the wearing of rather bulky glasses, sometimes accompanied by gloves, a vest, and in extreme cases a sphere (see the video at the bottom of this blog post). But, unlike Nintendo, whom even bodes their current console on its semi-virtual reality offerings, Xbox 360 thus far has refrained. And if you ask me…they never will walk down that path!

Were Virtual Reality Games Just Lame?
These games always were limited. They had slower frame rates, bad graphics and terrible plots. Because of the propensity of the game itself, being that you had to see in 360 degrees around you at all times, they were by nature limited. So in answer, yes they were and are lame.

Top Three Reasons Why Sports Games Are Never the Same on Xbox Live!

Add Comment

If you enjoy playing sports games on the Xbox 360 as much as I do then you already know what happens when you try to play your buddies online: the game play changes entirely and the experience is almost nearly never as fulfilling as a same console match up. Perhaps this is because of shoddy engineering. Or perhaps because of different internet connection speeds, who knows for sure. One thing that is prevalent – namely in games like Madden NFL 2009 and NCAA Football 2009 – is that most sports games really dwindle in their offerings once you take them to the online stage.

After having spent numerous amounts of gaming play hours jabbing the controller on a variety of different sports games online, I have come to the conclusion that most sports game blow on Xbox Live. But, to further my point I do present to you the Top Three Reasons Why Sports Games Are Never the Same on Xbox Live. And if you disagree, please feel free to comment in.

Godfather II: The Best Free-World Mafia Game Ever!

This game has it all: violence, criminal enterprises, newer and more improved cars, especially the physics and how they handle, and one of the largest free-world cities to ever be created for any game. Considering that Grand Theft Auto IV is the biggest rival to this franchise, EA more than likely felt that they had to go above and beyond anything that they had ever done before in order to at least provide some form of competition to the juggernaut that is GTA and Rockstar. And guess what? They fully deliver on all levels.

Better camera angles provide much more depth to the playing field. There are more things to do, namely by allowing you to build your family, create ‘Made Men’ and constantly expand your criminal enterprise to the farthest reaches possible—not to mention plenty of new and nifty weapons to use! While the game borrows a bit here and there from the movie series, it really shouldn’t be confused as a classic game after movie title.

Does Xbox 360 Have a Master Plan for the Future of Gaming Consoles?

Add Comment

Have you ever wondered what the future of video gaming consoles is going to be? What the next consoles of the future will look like and just what they will be capable of offering to us video game loving masses? If you have, then you may want to take a few moments to read this article and see what our thoughts are on the matter. You might be surprised!

Why Gaming Consoles are Actually Obsolete!
Think about it for a minute. Bulky consoles that overheat, have bad graphics cards and about a million and one issues surrounding them that cause them to be overpriced, when the answer is clearly the internet. If gaming console makers can realize this, they will all convert rather quickly to a purely online medium, as you are already seeing with Xbox Live. In the future, they won’t fret over consoles.

Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage & The Pitt: Three Games in One (Best 09’ Value)!

Fallout 3 is a monster of a game that took nearly four years to make and has several games (two) that are a bit different which preceded it. Bethesda (the maker of the game) took their sweet time creating one of the largest and most graphically superb free-worlds to ever be designed. They didn’t stop there. Tons of different weapons enhance game play and the gore factor is at a max – you can even shoot heads off bodies, limbs from torsos and blow up your friends or foes into smithereens and goop. In short: Fallout 3 is the most exciting, graphically awesome and interactive free-world role playing game to ever hit the store shelves. If you have not played it yet, do so and soon! But wait…it gets better, there are now two expansions for this game…see below!

Operation Anchorage
While this expansion was rather lousy, in that you must enter a simulated version of a war and beat it, it does add more to the game.

Why are more Newer Versions of Games Totally Different Than Their Predecessors?

Add Comment

I know that I am getting old as a gamer when I hear myself fretting about the always changing industry. However, there are some changes that simply don’t make any sense to me at all! For example, when games are radically different, and have spanned a series on the same console, and the newer versions offer less features than their predecessors did. Then what am I (or you) supposed to think? Why take more away and give us less and call it more? Why eliminate sought after features that made such games great? Let’s take a look at three culprits that have done this recently, shall we?

Far Cry 1 and 2
While both versions of this game are great, the first offered closed level boards. It offered an easy to use level builder and same console multiplayer. The second is a massive free-world board that doesn’t relate at all to the storyline of the first.

Most Playable Multiplayer Shooters: Rainbow Six Vegas (1 & 2), Perfect Dark & Far Cry

Far Cry
What made this game great was threefold. Insane online death matches with tons of people. Same console multiplayer death matches with up to four persons. And finally, the ability to create your own virtual worlds down to the smallest details—you could play them online against others on the same console versus your friends when at home! The level-builder makes this game a timeless hit for the ages!

Perfect Dark
This is one of the oldest games for the Xbox 360 and one of the best shooters ever made! You will always hear me talking great about it because it rocked, and still does! This is one of the only games that allowed you play death matches as up to four people (signed in as guest gamer tags) on Xbox Live. You could also play the solo campaign cooperatively.

Kameo: Elements of Power – Shortest Game Play Ever!

Add Comment

The first thing that you will notice is the graphics are amazing on this game and look even better with a high definition television set at your disposal. But what is the most tried and true conundrum of any next generation video game: great graphics do not ever equate to the game itself having much to offer. So, with that notion in mind, I do present to you a graphically superb game that pretty much sucks big time in the end! You are Kamoe and must turn into any ten flora or fauna based alter-egos—like plants, fire and so forth…bored yet?

The game moves in and out of being a strategy based, puzzle thriller to a becoming a first person ass kicker with sloppy camera angles. And fast frame rates do not help you to be able to see what you are doing any better. Popular rumors relate that this title has actually been in the development box for the better part of the past twenty years? Not sure how much truth there is to any of those.

MotoGP 06: A Damn Good Racer!

Rev your engines, pull back the throttle and squeal the hell out of there, burning rubber as you pit yourself against some of the priciest and most lavish racing bikes on the planet. Amazing graphics will even depict chunks of concrete, asphalt and dirt flying in your wake. As you careen around corners and begin to master the element of dragging your bike by braking at the appropriate times, you will realize several things! Those realizations being: MotoGP 06 is real fun! It has awesome graphics, and its really easy to play, and getting better only takes a little bit of time. If you love racing games, particularly motorcycle racers, you should at least rent this puppy!

The game offers a wide variation of different racing courses from the pro circuit, all located around the world. Most are modeled after their real life counterparts down to the last bleacher stands. And, the bikes could not be any more detailed, even the emblems look and feel real.

Top Five Reasons Why Rock Band is the Shizzle!

Add Comment

If you are unfamiliar with the smash hit video game, Rock Band (and yes I know that the second version is already out and selling hotter than nearly any other game ever to be released) then you may not know why it rocks so hard! And for those of you who are familiar with this smash hit title, many of you are already haplessly hooked on its solid offerings and endless hours of interactive, multiplayer entertainment. However, I felt it entirely necessary, and with good reason, to laud and tout this game as it is one of the more enjoyable games that you can play, and for oh so many good reasons. Whether you are a musician or not, a rock star or a normal person: Rock Band Rocks!

Top Five Reasons Why Rock Band is the Shizzle!
1. You can form your own virtual rock band and take over the world of music. Even Guitar Hero is limited in this capacity.

The Incredible Hulk

Add Comment

I must admit that I was not expecting much when I decided to pop the green giant’s video game into my white Xbox 360 console, and the fact that I didn’t get much in the end was really no surprise. After seeing both movies in the theater and getting duped out of my hard earned cash two times in a row for a movie that was a flop at first, only to remade few short years later to only flop again. So, needless to say, I was not expecting very much at all from the game, and I got exactly what I expected.

A few special moves reminded my of nearly ever other video game, namely Rampage with better graphics. Cut scenes are terrible and pixilated. The city is poorly designed and reminds one of how buildings would just suddenly appear when playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. In that awesome game’s defense, however, it was for the Xbox, and this crappy module is supposed to be “Next Generation!”

The city has not much to offer except that you can go around destroying things.

So this time around, we would like to speak about a few upcoming free-world games, some that are expansions and others that are newer sequels that will literally blow your minds once they are released. And you already know that we are oh so fond of those large, open level free-world boards that offer endless possibilities. So when we hear about newer games coming out from this spectrum, we get all giddy inside!

Transformers: The Game

Add Comment

To begin with, the plot is very weak in the movie. The plot in the cartoon was lame as well. But there is clearly a difference between a cartoon for children that is aged and long since off the air, and a movie that goes big time box office bust. But the dudes over at Hollywood always seem to think that if you blow everything up a whole bunch of times, well then that will sell any movie you like. But contrary to this popular Hollywood notion, they forget that sex also sells. So where are all the hot babes?

In a nutshell, Transformers the Game is really lame! That rhymed! The controls will take a few minutes for you to realize that you can transform into some lame-ass vehicle, hover, fly and use two buttons (in most cases) to shoot things. Wow. In another review that I read about this floppy, sloppy game, the reviewer wrote that if you just set the gun to auto fire you could leave the room and come back in three hours and you would have won the game.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

It seemed to take quite some time for this game to really evolve, even after having a few hit movies to boast and brag about on its shoulders. However, the truth be known, Tomb Raider is one of the best selling video games in history and not because it sucks! On the contrary, it offers a more unique experience that merges first person shooters with strategy and problem solving, combined with first rate graphics and bosses that will leave most people dizzy they are so impressed.

The coolest feature that I found in Tomb Raider: Anniversary is called “Bullet Dodge.” This is similar to the Max Payne ‘Slow Time’ feature. If your power meter is charged you can literally slow down time enough that you can see bullets flying at you and successfully dodge them. The graphics are really incredible and the frame rates are fast and serene.

Gun: A Wild West, GTA-Styled, Action-Packed Adventure for All!

Rarely do you see any Wild West shooters for any video game system anymore, or ever for that matter. Much less do you see them debut on the Xbox 360. But if you will take a trip back in time with me for a moment, let’s revisit one of the better, first person shooters to ever make its way to the next generation video gaming consoles, namely the Xbox 360, shall we?

Gun offers amazing graphics and a huge, Wild West free world that you could explore on foot or horseback. You are the son a hunter that becomes entangled in a conspiracy that threatens to derail peace with the native tribes and pit the west into another civil war. When your father is killed by thugs, you decide to embark upon a quest to clear his name and figure out just what the hell happened. Amazing graphics and a brilliant plot augment this classic shooter that is most certainly one of a kind.

The controls take a bit to get the hang of, namely with the shooting aspects.

Why You Won’t Be Seeing a New Xbox System in the Near Future!

Fallout 3 Expansion – The Pitt

About two months after the release of the long awaited and ultimately disappointing Fallout 3 expansion, Operation Anchorage, finally a newer and far superior expansion has made its way to the Xbox 360 console. However, if you own an Xbox 360 and you are bored of playing the game because you already have done everything that there is to do, then be bored no longer, this expansion is a hot commodity.

GTA IV Expansion: Lost and the Damned Delivers!

There are several reasons to spend about twenty bucks on the new GTA IV Expansion: Lost and the Damned. Amongst the highest ranking would be that of adding expanded content to your already boring GTA IV game—if you have already beaten it twice as I have, you will quickly realize that the only things to do afterwards are milling through pedestrians in your fancy, stolen cars, or playing online live play against other would-be thugs.

But, with this GTA IV Expansion: Lost and the Damned you also get improved vehicle handling physics, namely for the motorcycles. You also get more vehicles, and weapons. And you get twenty more missions and a few more side missions. So no worries about the price, the twenty bucks is well worth it!

The main premise is to lead a biker gang to victory. After the leader gets nabbed and jailed you become the leader. Then one day he is released from prison, and now threatens to break up your biker gang.

Elder Scrolls Shivering Isles Expansion

Once upon a time, you beat a game called Elder Scrolls: The Oblivion. Most gamers were saddened when they did finally beat this game, because they wondered how long it would be until another of such grander and greatness would be unveiled. The targeting system. Hundreds of skills need to be constantly improved upon to save Cyrodile. Certainly, the 2008 Game of the Year was named as such for many obvious reasons. And just when you thought the adventure had finally come to a dramatic close, wrong!

Three Xbox 360 Games to Avoid at All Costs!

Street Fighter IV – Classic Fighting Game Comes to Xbox 360

Street Fighter fans rejoiced at the announcement of the long awaited return of their favorite fighting game to finally debut on the next generation video gaming consoles, namely, and for the purpose of this blog, the Xbox 360. However, I got my hands on a rental copy—as I always rent before I buy, and I rarely buy after I rent, if that tells you something at all—and I was impressed initially and disappointed greatly afterwards.

The game offers a few more characters, some that can be unlocked after you beat the game. The outfits and the graphics have been redone and offer smooth frame rates and transitions with fast loading times. However, they don’t scream high definition and are most certainly lagging behind the desired sixty frames per second of the best video games currently on the market.

The most frustrating part about this game is the controls.

Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage Expansion Pack

If you are as big of a fan of the game Fallout 3 for the Xbox 360 as I am, then you already know that the long awaited Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage Expansion Pack was late in delivery by several weeks. It was supposed to be available for download at the end of January, but we gamers had to wait until the end of February to get our hands upon it. And once we did, the name Fallout should have change to Letdown, because this expansion pack sucks a big one!

The expansion pretty much adds a distress beacon to your Pip Boy broadcast. It’s the Outcast, a similar faction to the Brotherhood of Steel, but one that has gone their own way. The expansion also adds a few more buildings and a few lame side missions, like collecting scrap metal for trade to the Outcast and so on.

Battlefield: Bad Company – Fully Destructible Environments Equals A+

Add Comment

If you can think back all the way to original Xbox with me for a brief moment, there is a game that I wish to compare this awesome game to: Red Faction 2. Back in the heyday of the original Xbox, destructible environments were rarely seen. Then along came Red Faction 2, and by far, they changed the scenery of good Xbox games forever. So in that tried and true ambiance and tradition, I do present to you, what is perhaps the greatest destructible environment shooter of our day: Battlefield: Bad Company.

The game pits you in the shows of soldiers from the failed B Company—guys that are sent there for screwing up too much in special forces, but that are still highly trained and therefore are sent on clandestine missions to hunt down mercenaries and drug lords, and mostly to catch all of the bullets in their chest before the real pros go into action! The game play features much in-game banter, plenty of vulgarity and has a decent plot that will not leave you feeling too bored in the end.

Heavy Iron Studios and THQ made sure that the game would not falter like most after movie games do, and even though I am not parley to this specific genre of video games, I must say I do enjoy seeing a good game that follows a movie every once in a while.

You are a young rat that is wandering the sewers of Paris, France. When you stumble behind the restaurant of famed culinary chef, Auguste Gusteau, your youthful rat ambitions of becoming the best chef in Europe suddenly flare to life!

Civilization: Revolution (Better Kept on the Computer!)

civilization-revolutionFirst and foremost, I want to make it very clear that I have been a fan of the game Civilizations for many years, ever since the very first game was released. That being said however, I also want to specifically point out that the game has never been without its flaws or abnormalities, of which most have been carried over to the games cross breeding between consoles, from the computer to the Xbox 360. In short: some games, especially turn-based, real time strategy and city builder games like this, are better left on the computer where they will offer far more intuitiveness with the menus and hotkey selections.

If you are not familiar with the game, here is the basic debriefing that you will need. You are a master of your own making. Lego Batman: Here We Go Again!

lego-batmanAs if a Lego Star Wars, consisting of now two games, and soon to be three, and a Lego Indiana Jones video game were not enough to appease your Lego loving senses, then I present to you the newest Lego video game fad: Lego Batman! All of the villains have escaped their lockup and now it is up to you—you Lego Warrior you—to find and recapture them all and bring safety and solidarity back to the humble, dark and gothic city of Gotham.

The game play really surrounds puzzle solving and strategy, but most of the puzzles are literally child’s play. There are some boards that you will come across that try as you might, frustrate you to the umpteenth degree. But, if you are playing with a friend—as this game allows same console multiplayer cooperative play—then solving puzzles means that you link your noodles together and think for a moment, and the answer will always be right in front of your noses.

Halo Wars

I have to lament, and much to the dismay of many fans of the Halo series of video games that has wholeheartedly entertained us all for so very long, spanning three different version of the game, chronologically ordered 1 – 3. But this time around, it’s entirely different and in the same sense, what I found to be very disappointing. Why, you ask? Well, before I go off on this game and why I dislike it, here is a candid note to all of you Halo fans out there: Bungie sold the rights to Ensemble Studios, who totally mucked up what otherwise has been a very eventful, successful and invigorating franchise, up until this, newest version was released.

Think of both of the Incredible Hulk movies, or better yet, Jurassic Park 3, which was sold and not produced by Steven Spielberg, and you have the right idea in mind for how much a letdown Halo Wars truly is.

I feel like I am constantly repeating myself when it comes to the altruistic notion of games being hurriedly produced and rushed to match up to par with their movie counterpart releases at the box office, all in spurious attempts by filmmakers and media gluttons to garner as many profits as they can possibly snatch off a particular movie’s gross profits. So, that notion, to remind any of you who have forgotten, or whom are just reading this Xbox 360 blog for the first time: games after movies, which are created on the sole purpose of driving more profits into the already deep pockets of the major film studios: tend to suck.

And on the contrary side of that gripe, movies that are made after video games often tend to do quite well at the box office. For example, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider and Max Payne, just to name a few.

Soul Calibur IV: Sweet Fighting Game!

Sweet Soul Caliber

Before I even get started here, don’t get me wrong: I have been an avid fan of the Soul Calibur series for many years now, dating all the way back to the Sega Dreamcast days, when Soul Calibur really crossed the boundaries from being an average, hack and slash fighter, over to video gaming greatness. In short: I love Soul Calibur. But I must say, that I think that I was expecting something a little bit more with this game. For instance, why the hell did they give us a crappy Yoda character for the Xbox 360 version of the game, when PS3 fans get to enjoy Darth Vader? And why could they not give us both, the same set of characters.

The, create your own character feature is promising and will yield you some fantastic results, if you are willing to spend the time, of course. Using Yoda, for the Xbox 360 version, pretty much sucks and is very unrewarding.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Engulfing, First-Person Battles that Rock

Add Comment

Star Wars ForceJust when you thought that they could not possibly ever release another Star Wars game, think again! But unlike the trodden Star Wars games of our not so distant past, this time they decided to make a different styled version of the game, one that really paves the way for more aggressive, in your face action that all gamers and lovers of the movies have been long waiting for. Unfortunately, this game does not come with an M for Mature rating by the ESRB, meaning that you will see some sparks fly, you get to toss storm troopers across docking bays on space stations, but try and find even the smallest speck of blood and you will be hard pressed to do so.

This late, 2008 release by Lucas Arts, has gotten gamers all worked up into a serious frenzy. Basically, you are Darth Vader’s young and evil apprentice, and will be sent on missions, consisting mostly of inner workings and cleaning up the messes that are left behind by the empire.

Microsoft Claims to have Resolved RROD (Red Ring of Death Problems)

Add Comment

X-Box ButtonThere are a many people who are currently suing Microsoft Corporation in a class action lawsuit that claims that the company defrauded consumers by producing lousy systems that they knew to be prone to failures. Namely, the biggest culprit of Xbox 360 gaming consoles failing has become nostalgically known as RROD or, the Red Rings of Death. The Xbox has a power button on the front side of the creamy, white unit. When turned on, it will display four green circles and then light up, and leave on of the corners, or more, lit depending on how many controllers are plugged in at the time of system boot up (you can use up to four controllers simultaneously on the Xbox 360).

If there is a system problem that has occurred with your Xbox 360, upon booting up the unit, the rings that are green, will turn into the dreaded Red Rings of Death.

Army of Two will Make you Hate Their Multiplayer Schemes!

Add Comment

Army of TwoI love Electronic Arts, but that does not mean that they are not capable of producing a lackluster video game title for the Xbox 360. And before all you lovers of Army of Two go on your brandishing of me for my lack of caring about this game, the game itself is sweet, offers some cool and unique innovations and has amazing graphics. But, the two player functions are sloppy, shoddy and forbidding—and ultimately they ruined the entire experience of the game for me. Trust me, I will tell you all that I loved and hated about this game in the paragraphs that follow!

The game is setup like you are a two man army. You can outfit your soldiers and the game does offer a decent in game tutorial so that you both know how to work together as one. But, you can only play the game with either another player present on the same console, or live. That is, unless you want to be subjected to the computer playing your partner and sucking ass because of poorly created AI.

The Simpson’s: The Game: Xbox 360 Welcomes the Yellow Family!

Add Comment

The SimpsonsIf you are as avid of a fan as I am of the Simpsons then you will love the newest game that has finally made its way to the next generation video gaming consoles. The Simpsons: The Game is the latest foray of the animated and colorful family from Springfield, brought to you and to life on the Xbox 360 by none other than Electronic Arts. The game has a rather lengthy intro that looks nearly identical to the cartoon, meaning that the animations and the frame rates are about identical to those that you see on TV, and sometimes they are even better.

In the beginning Bart is caught playing a mature adult video game called Grand Theft Springfield – when Marge catches him and takes it away. Throughout the game, you will explore the lives of all of the lovable family, from Homer – where you are taken on an adventure in his dream about cakes, candies and marshmallows, to Bart riding around on his skateboard getting into trouble all over the place.

Unreal Tournament 3 – The Third Edition Rocks and Also Lags!

Add Comment

Unreal TournamentThanks to Midway Games and Epic Games, who brought to us this mid-2008 release of the long awaited third edition of the epic shooter frenzy that is Unreal Tournament 3, something that had more hype and anticipation behind than most other shooter games, mostly due to the vast cult following that this game has managed to convert and garner over the years. The graphics do deliver on the upper spectrum; however I still find that the weapon sets are boring and unimaginative. I want more special weapons, more special modes on the weapons, and namely, more freaking weapons to choose from!

The boards and levels have been ramped up, but the lack of being able to engulf yourself in a destructive environment left me wondering why. The game play offers quick frame rates—mostly due to a brand new graphics engine—but still for a shooter, this game seems to missing something, and was unable to keep me entertained for all that long before the redundancy sets it.

WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007: One of the Better Wrestlers You’ll Play!

Add Comment

Wrestle ManiaA Creation of Yuke's Media Creations and THQ, WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 for the Xbox 360 is actually one of the best wrestling games that I have ever laid my grubby paws upon the controller over. The graphics are the best part of the game, by far, and are smooth, fluid, realistic and sick. The frame rates are fast, and the high definition vibes that the graphics exudes are simply hard to top, especially considering that this game was released in 2007. While the online play is glitchy and hampered by poor servers and the bandwidths of whomever you are challenging that day, the rest of the game is more ripped than Sly Stallone when he played Rambo.

You can play as any of your favorite wrestlers from the entire WWE roster, and this time around they don’t like plastic molds.

World Championship Poker: Featuring Howard Lederer – Sweet Poker Game

Add Comment

World Champ PokerIn a nutshell this game is all things poker. So, that being said, if you are not a fan of variants the game of poker, and or, you have no idea how to play the game, this may not be a winner for you in the end. If you do, however, love the game of poker, then this game is a sweet purchase. Especially considering that you can get your hands on a used copy of this game for pretty cheap now that is has been out for a while. The graphics are pretty damn good, they offer exceptionally high details, and especially on the professional players, who look true to life.

This game offers a pretty wide variety of different poker games for you to enjoy. However, the primary focus of World Championship Poker: Featuring Howard Lederer is on the popular game of Texas Holdem. The controls are pretty basic, with exception to the betting features, which will take you some time to master.

UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 – 259 Teams and Nothing Else!

Add Comment

UEFAThis game was touted as the most expansive and inclusive soccer title ever, but in the end fails to delivered anything more than the lauded 259 teams that they boasted during the pre launch phases of this game. You will almost never hear this blogger bashing EA Sports because they tend to bring to use the best sports games ever made for the next generation consoles; Madden, NCAA, and so forth. However, with regards to UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 this is entirely not the case!

This game does have a few nifty features, however. You can choose from all 259 teams worldwide, and there are about fifty other side missions that you can complete in the team managerial modes. However, if you screw up too many missions, you will get fired and have to start all over again. The graphics are okay, but the controls need some vast improvement.

Top Spin 3 – One of the Best Tennis Games of All Time!

Add Comment

Top SpinLeave it to 2k Sports and PAM Development to actually make a game that seriously outdoes the prior title, Top Spin 2, and really delivers an action packed, intense, realistic as all hell tennis game that will surely put all others in the dust in its wake, namely Virtua Tennis, which has had some trouble competing with the Top Spin titles in the past. And the late June release of Top Spin 3 saw the world of video gaming tennis change forever on the next generation consoles, especially the Xbox 360!

The only drawback to this version, over the past titles in this trilogy, is that there are some pro players that are exclusive to each console, some are only available on the Xbox 360, and others are only available on the PS3. But, considering how extensive the roster of pro players is on both consoles, who really cares, right?

Viking: Battle for Asgard – Fun at First, Repetitive and Boring Later

Vikings RuleThis game I found to be very exciting at first glimpse. You are a famous Viking warrior and you must fend off hordes of the enemy and protect your people – pretty unique concept that does not seem to have been touched upon very much in recent video gaming years. Of course, leave it to Sega to bring us another reclusive game that may or may not make the headlines on the major gaming magazines. When it comes to Viking: Battle for Asgard, unfortunately Sega once again fails to entertain for long periods of time, and the game is not without its major setbacks.

You are pitted in the shoes of a Viking warrior and it’s your mission to hunt down the enemy and free your captured comrades from their prisons. The game features a semi free world. I say that because the terrain is rather limited. You can only walk and trod upon certain places, and others are restricted, and or are closed.

Vampire Rain: Like the Vampires it Portrays…Sucks!

Add Comment

Vampire RainWhen it gets to be July of 2007, and the video gaming companies have virtually mastered all that there is to know about the next generation video gaming consoles, namely the Xbox 360—you come to grow to expect much more from them than a piece of crap game like this. A game, that like the vampires in which it portrays, sucks more human beef than all of Transylvania combined! In a funny note, the game is about being undead and sucking human life from bodies in the form of blood to stay alive. However, similar to this notion is the lengthy and headache-giving two hour in-game tutorial that you must pass before you can even really begin to play the game.

UEFA EURO 2008: Quite Possibly the Best Soccer Game Ever!

Best Soccer GameThe world of soccer loving enthusiasts, neophytes and protagonists long awaited the May 19, 2008 arrival of the best soccer game on the planet earth: ‘UEFA EURO 2008.’ And the wait was actually well worth it because the makers of the game, Electronic Arts, was busy developing a newer, better and more capable graphical engine that is smoking hot to the eyes and offers lighting speeds on the Xbox 360.

Keep in mind that EA is already notorious for making the other football game greats, the entire Madden franchise. So it makes perfect sense when you really think about it that they are also the purveyors of the best European football games…right? Why any other video game company even tries to break into this market that is rightfully dominated by EA is beyond me? But now on to the game review, shall we?

In UEFA EURO 2008 you are allowed a maximum team control; you are in total command.
