Does Xbox 360 Have a Master Plan for the Future of Gaming Consoles?

Add Comment

Have you ever wondered what the future of video gaming consoles is going to be? What the next consoles of the future will look like and just what they will be capable of offering to us video game loving masses? If you have, then you may want to take a few moments to read this article and see what our thoughts are on the matter. You might be surprised!

Why Gaming Consoles are Actually Obsolete!
Think about it for a minute. Bulky consoles that overheat, have bad graphics cards and about a million and one issues surrounding them that cause them to be overpriced, when the answer is clearly the internet. If gaming console makers can realize this, they will all convert rather quickly to a purely online medium, as you are already seeing with Xbox Live. In the future, they won’t fret over consoles.

Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage & The Pitt: Three Games in One (Best 09’ Value)!

Fallout 3 is a monster of a game that took nearly four years to make and has several games (two) that are a bit different which preceded it. Bethesda (the maker of the game) took their sweet time creating one of the largest and most graphically superb free-worlds to ever be designed. They didn’t stop there. Tons of different weapons enhance game play and the gore factor is at a max – you can even shoot heads off bodies, limbs from torsos and blow up your friends or foes into smithereens and goop. In short: Fallout 3 is the most exciting, graphically awesome and interactive free-world role playing game to ever hit the store shelves. If you have not played it yet, do so and soon! But wait…it gets better, there are now two expansions for this game…see below!

Operation Anchorage
While this expansion was rather lousy, in that you must enter a simulated version of a war and beat it, it does add more to the game.

Why are more Newer Versions of Games Totally Different Than Their Predecessors?

Add Comment

I know that I am getting old as a gamer when I hear myself fretting about the always changing industry. However, there are some changes that simply don’t make any sense to me at all! For example, when games are radically different, and have spanned a series on the same console, and the newer versions offer less features than their predecessors did. Then what am I (or you) supposed to think? Why take more away and give us less and call it more? Why eliminate sought after features that made such games great? Let’s take a look at three culprits that have done this recently, shall we?

Far Cry 1 and 2
While both versions of this game are great, the first offered closed level boards. It offered an easy to use level builder and same console multiplayer. The second is a massive free-world board that doesn’t relate at all to the storyline of the first.

Most Playable Multiplayer Shooters: Rainbow Six Vegas (1 & 2), Perfect Dark & Far Cry

Add Comment

Far Cry
What made this game great was threefold. Insane online death matches with tons of people. Same console multiplayer death matches with up to four persons. And finally, the ability to create your own virtual worlds down to the smallest details—you could play them online against others on the same console versus your friends when at home! The level-builder makes this game a timeless hit for the ages!

Perfect Dark
This is one of the oldest games for the Xbox 360 and one of the best shooters ever made! You will always hear me talking great about it because it rocked, and still does! This is one of the only games that allowed you play death matches as up to four people (signed in as guest gamer tags) on Xbox Live. You could also play the solo campaign cooperatively.

Top Five Reasons Why Rock Band is the Shizzle!

Add Comment

If you are unfamiliar with the smash hit video game, Rock Band (and yes I know that the second version is already out and selling hotter than nearly any other game ever to be released) then you may not know why it rocks so hard! And for those of you who are familiar with this smash hit title, many of you are already haplessly hooked on its solid offerings and endless hours of interactive, multiplayer entertainment. However, I felt it entirely necessary, and with good reason, to laud and tout this game as it is one of the more enjoyable games that you can play, and for oh so many good reasons. Whether you are a musician or not, a rock star or a normal person: Rock Band Rocks!

Top Five Reasons Why Rock Band is the Shizzle!
1. You can form your own virtual rock band and take over the world of music. Even Guitar Hero is limited in this capacity.

Two More Reasons to Play GTA IV!

As if you needed anymore reasons to play one of the best free-world games ever to be created, let me provide you two more candid reasons as to why! The wonderful thing that separates the newer Grand Theft Auto (IV) from the older one (San Andreas) is that unlike the Xbox version, the Xbox 360 version has exclusive downloadable, expandable content from Microsoft. I know (whine), all of you Sony cats get screwed with downloaded content. But, for those of you who love the Xbox 360 (me), the future is shining bright indeed.

Two More Reasons to Play GTA IV: In so many words, there are two expansions, one that is available and one that is coming towards the end of 2009. And, you can easily expect them to keep dishing them out in the years to come!

1. The Lost and the Damned: You are pitted in the shoes of a motorcycle gang leader who has just gotten out of rehab.

Worst Xbox 360 Games EVER! (And we mean EVER!)

Add Comment

In a constant effort to keep you all the best informed as possible, we are always striving to bring you the very best and the very worst of any games out there for the Xbox 360. That being said, it is time, as we so deem, for another edition of the Worst Xbox 360 Games Ever (this time EVER, EVER)! Because your sixty bucks are hard earned, and the economy doth truly suck right now. So, if you plan on buying or renting any Xbox 360 games in the near future, try and veer clear of these stinkers!

Eragon: This is perhaps the most boring, thumb numbing game of all time. Boasting a two player same console interface, basically hack and slash at the same enemies over and over again until your eyes pop out of your skull; seriously!

Why You Won’t Be Seeing a New Xbox System in the Near Future!

Add Comment

If you have often stopped and thought or wondered about whether or not there will be a new Xbox system coming out soon, don’t! As it will be quite some time before Microsoft unveils their next endeavor in the next-generation consoles. And for many good reasons too my friends! In reality, it is always better this way, and no worries, I will fully explain as to why that is and just how much it matters in this day and age of developing technology as it relates to video game consoles!

Cost of Research and Development
First and foremost, Microsoft loses their asses on consoles, they typically take a few hundred dollar loss for each one that they sell, and hope to make it back with licensing royalties.

Three Xbox 360 Games to Avoid at All Costs!

Add Comment

So many games for the Xbox 360, so little time to play them all—and especially even less time to devote to games that suck! So, in order to save you time, money and frustration, the following three games are so bad that you don’t ever even need to rent them. Unless you are fond of wasting your own time and money and getting frustrated at shoddy games for the Xbox 360.

Destroy All Humans 2
Another game that touted the illustrious same console two player mode, only to be a big time letdown in the end! After plopping this horse apple into my Xbox 360, I was treated to the same monotony of the first game, which equally blows. Two player mode is terrible. You are confined to one camera angle and the excitement offered is paramount to singing folk songs for senior citizens at the local nursing home!

Two Worlds
How do you spell Elder Scrolls: The Oblivion rip off in nine letters or less? Easy: Two Worlds.

Microsoft Claims to have Resolved RROD (Red Ring of Death Problems)

Add Comment

X-Box ButtonThere are a many people who are currently suing Microsoft Corporation in a class action lawsuit that claims that the company defrauded consumers by producing lousy systems that they knew to be prone to failures. Namely, the biggest culprit of Xbox 360 gaming consoles failing has become nostalgically known as RROD or, the Red Rings of Death. The Xbox has a power button on the front side of the creamy, white unit. When turned on, it will display four green circles and then light up, and leave on of the corners, or more, lit depending on how many controllers are plugged in at the time of system boot up (you can use up to four controllers simultaneously on the Xbox 360).

If there is a system problem that has occurred with your Xbox 360, upon booting up the unit, the rings that are green, will turn into the dreaded Red Rings of Death.

The Simpson’s: The Game: Xbox 360 Welcomes the Yellow Family!

Add Comment

The SimpsonsIf you are as avid of a fan as I am of the Simpsons then you will love the newest game that has finally made its way to the next generation video gaming consoles. The Simpsons: The Game is the latest foray of the animated and colorful family from Springfield, brought to you and to life on the Xbox 360 by none other than Electronic Arts. The game has a rather lengthy intro that looks nearly identical to the cartoon, meaning that the animations and the frame rates are about identical to those that you see on TV, and sometimes they are even better.

In the beginning Bart is caught playing a mature adult video game called Grand Theft Springfield – when Marge catches him and takes it away. Throughout the game, you will explore the lives of all of the lovable family, from Homer – where you are taken on an adventure in his dream about cakes, candies and marshmallows, to Bart riding around on his skateboard getting into trouble all over the place.

Top Spin 2 – 2k Sports Finally Offers a Sequel to their Bestseller

Top Spin 2Considering that this game was originally released towards the end of March, 2006, and was one of the earlier games on the Xbox 360, Top Spin 2 is not all that bad. In the tried and true tradition of simulation sports games that have made 2k Sports famous as a developer, this game offers the same thing that all lovers of this company have come to expect when they release a new sports game; with the exception to the horrible piece of crap that was All Pro Football – but hey who is counting, and yes, we do forgive you for that insult 2k.

Virtua Tennis 3: Cool Game, Great Graphics!

Virtual TennisEarly 2007 saw another fruitful attempt by Sega to garner industry praise, yet at the same time, this game, like many other Sega endeavors, seems to be lacking in far too many places to really get them the kudos that they were driving for in the end. I will credit them with a great attempt at making a decent and fun tennis game. This game offers many of the pro players, save for a few of the top players, which obviously didn’t not get the money they wanted from Sega in order to sign off on the game, but the selection is enough to make most gamers happy. And, you can easily create your own rookie player, which is what I prefer to do anyways!

The best part about this Xbox 360 game is that it fully takes advantage of the sixteen graphical pipelines offered by the console, providing intense and greatly detailed, high definition graphics that scream quality.

Shrek the Third – A Great Family Video Game!

Add Comment

Shrek The ThirdGenerally speaking, you will never hear me say anything good about any game that is in the third spin off from a major motion picture. However, as much as I hate to say it, Shrek the Third actually breaks from this standard of suck and delivers a new game that is fun to play, exceptional for the entire family and rather original—thank goodness! Where to start…the graphics are as good as the movie and offer some original cut scenes from the film from time to time. The frame rates are very high and I was unable to really find any glitches or mishaps.

There are missions aplenty that you will be challenged with as you take Shrek on his third, and I am assuming, final video gaming adventure on the Xbox 360. There are tons of side missions that you complete, thousands of items that you can use and collect, and the bosses will get tougher and tougher to beat as you near the final levels of the game.

The Orange Box: The Long Anticipated Thriller Arrives!

Orange BoxThis game has more of a cult following than Scientology, it seems. While many fans were anxiously awaiting the release of this game, I have always been a fan of this game. The graphics are amazing, and offer some rapid frame rates at a possible 1080p definition. But do they really offer the 60 FPS that Valve and EA claimed? I think not! The graphical jargon aside, this game is great fun to enjoy and play often. You can entirely customize the controls to dictate your own gaming experience. The main concept: work your way through massive boards which involve plenty of strategy and puzzle solving skills in order to progress.

There are actually several games included in one here, which will make many gamers happy to bust open their wallets.

StuntmanHave you ever wondered what it would be like to be a famous Hollywood stuntman? We I have—and I am certain that it is not wild to assume that many people have wondered what goes into such a risky job. Well the good folks over at Paradigm Entertainment decided that it was time that world of gamers realized this dream when they released Stuntman Ignition in late August of 2007 for the whole world to enjoy! The game has much to offer, including amazing graphics, a fast frame rate, total originality, and that fact that you are placed in the shoes of a stuntman that is contracted by the major studios in Hollywood to perform stunts for major motion pictures that are being shot; screw up and the movie has to be shot again, costing you major in game points!

You basically get five tries to complete a stunt correctly, which is shown to you before you attempt the stunt. Fail and you will lose points. Fail too often and many movies studios will be apt to hire you.

Ninety-Nine Nights Equals 99 Hours of Boredom!

Add Comment

Ninety Nine NightsYou will not often hear me bashing any Microsoft published game, because generally speaking, they create some of the best games for the Xbox 360. However, in reality, Q Entertainment / Phantagram is to blame for creating this lackluster and boring mid-August of 2006 flop of a fighting game, that truly only really offers 99 hours of boredom. This notion is entirely augmented by shoddy graphics and really lagging frame rates that equally make this game unappealing to look at and play.

The game offers no training mode that I could find, so you are left to hack and slash your way to who-cares glory. As you wing it on your own and you are dropped into large scale battles that glitch galore, be prepared to encounter the sloppiest enemy AI that you have seen in your life. Some just stand there and do nothing until you trigger their movements. And it this is not bad enough, the name of the game is pressing the ‘X’ button until your thumb is about to fall off.

MotoGP 06’ – Climax Studios Wins Big with This Hot Racer!

Add Comment

Moto GPMotoGP ’06 is one of the best motorcycle racers of its time. Released in mid-June of 2006 by Climax Studios, the world of Xbox 360 had never seen such a great racing game before. And keep in mind that this game is dated, but still is worthwhile and even today I have enjoyed picking up the controller and wrapping my thumbs around it for a few hours to get my octane thrills out of the way. The graphics—especially for three years ago—are simply amazing and highly detailed, and the game boasts an incredible frame rate with almost no noticeable glitches. The levels are so well modeled and rendered that the dirt actually looks real!

The game offers easy controls that will take but a few minutes to master. And there are plenty of cool game modes that you can enjoy. Like the Grand Prix mode, which will take you many hours to get good at—where your skills as a racer are pitted against nineteen other drivers, and the AI is pretty formidable.

Major League Baseball 2K7 – Fine Looking Game for the Times!

Major League Baseball 07Now keep in mind that this game was originally released towards in early 2007, but, nonetheless it is still a game that is available for the Xbox 360, and as being such, I will give it my review. And yes, I did play this game for a bit, although I am the first to admit that I love football over any other sport, however, that does not mean I am unable to see good baseball game when I do.

MLB 2k7 is of course brought to you by good guys over at 2k Sports—which is basically a Sega post console venture. The game offers greatly improved and revamped player AI, amazingly improved animations, and basically puts to shame all other baseball orientated games to date. The pitching routine was greatly modified and now you can even select where your pitch will break. They also included pitchers and their specific arm tendencies to make it more realistic.

Red Faction Two: Backwards Compatible Xbox 360 Shooter that Rocks!

Red FactionTouching on a topic that I have little delved into, well actually, a topic that I have barely even scratched the surface of: backwards compatibility. For those of you, who are not in the know of what exactly this term refers to when it comes to your Xbox 360, let me fill in the details really quickly. Microsoft made sure that when they made the Xbox 360 that avid gamers would still be able to play many older Xbox games on their newer Xbox console; they called this backwards compatibility. Basically, all that is required is that you visit their website and download a file and burn it to a disc and install that disc on your Xbox 360. Then you will be able to enjoy playing hundreds of old Xbox games on your newer, next generation console. If you need to download the files, you can do so from Microsoft Here.

Top Five Reasons to Own an Xbox 360

Numero 5As if you wonderful, video game protagonist neophytes were in need of anymore superlatives as to why there are ample amounts of tenuous reasons to own an Xbox 360 video game console; I am back with yet five more. And I am already well familiarized with the many ups and downs of this console—which has been amply gone over and trodden through during many previous entries, rants and raves. However, I deem it necessary once again to interlude why this device—the creator of many vices in men who are in committed relationships; women hate losing their one-on-one time with their significant others because of a freaking video game—has attracted more people to its candid and sheen, white exterior, which somehow more reminds me of an Apple interface than anything else. But, my babblings aside, let’s get on to the top five reasons shall we?

This is the top reason to own an Xbox 360 video game console, period.

Top Four Reasons (For and Against) Owning an Xbox 360 Console

After much research and deliberation, I have come up with the top four reasons for owning a Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles. Contrary to my own reasoning, I have also derived a top four against owning the Xbox 360. Why? Because it seems it’s the status quo with this console. So many reasons to own, and equally as many not to own it. So without ado, here is my latest grindings on the Xbox 360. “Hey at least it doesn’t have Windows Vista right?”

Top Four Reasons for Owning an Xbox 360
What follows are what I deem the top four reasons to own a Microsoft Xbox 360 video gaming console. These are just my opinions so please, just enjoy…don’t get all upset.

Exclusive Downloadable Content
More video games that are released on the next generation video gaming consoles inclusive of the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360, of them all—the Xbox 360 has more exclusive downloadable content. After Frying 7 Xbox 360’s – Here is How to Legally Beat the System Once and For All!

You read the title of this article right, I have fried successfully more than seven Xbox 360 consoles over the course of less than four years; three in fact over the past year. I have had them repaired. I have had the mod done. I have even had the Artic Silver coating applied. They still break. In fact, I finally broke down today and bought a new one just so I can keep reviewing games for you all on this site. After getting burned so many different times, there is in fact a way to beat the system and get a new Xbox for only thirty bucks every time it fries.

Why Xbox 360’s Get the Red Rings of Death (RROD)
The Xbox 360 is made cheaply. The heat synch that is supposed to cool the motherboard does not have enough thermal sealing on it. As a result the motherboard heats up too much. This causes the soldering on the main chips to heat up and become loose over time. Eventually the thing stops working.

Guitar Hero Quips: From the Musician’s Point of View

Let me first begin this gripe by stating very clearly, neither of the games I am about to moan about are faulty in the programming, have any glitches that I noticed, nor are they actually bad games in that sense. They are rather, well made games, some of the most successful games of all time actually, and I totally, entirely and fully understand why they are such cult classics. However, and I am sure there are some musicians out there who agree with me and many that don’t—from my point of view they are completely disenfranchising to the reality of being a musician, guitarist or band member. And, for the kids who get hooked on playing them, they will never really get to enjoy being a real musician, they will just stare at a screen, burning their eyes out and clunking away on an overpriced controller that is shaped to resemble a real instrument; a real instrument that could open their eyes to the joys and wonders of true artistic creation.

ThrillVille: Off the Rails – Both Fun and Stupid Simultaneously

I was a PC gamer originally, as a kid. Because for the most part, the computer games had more to offer than the games that were available on the older Nintendo consoles. And when the popular, sweeping and trendy, infamous hit that was Coaster was unveiled for the Windows 3.1 platform PCs – you know those 386’s that lauded having a whole 24 megs of RAM – wow – I was simply put: freaking hooked. If you don’t recall Coaster, as it does entirely relate to the game that I am about to review, here is the nutshell scoop. Coaster was an amusement park game where you could custom design any type of roller coaster that you could ever imagine. Then you had to open the ride and manage it, and make sure it was safe. Screw up the design and you could get sued and lose your park. Testing the coasters was the greatest of fun. If they were too dangerous, they would end up tossing your riders hundreds of feet in the air to their deaths. Coaster was awesome!

Ridge Racer 6 Delivers Arcade Racing at its Finest!

Damn I wish that I had not played so much freaking Ridge Racer when I was the proud owner of a Sega Dreamcast gaming console. And who says that there are not extraterrestrial forces at work within the video game business. At Any rate…Ridge Racer was one of my favorite games for the Sega Dreamcast, and it would not be for several years later, until Ridge Racer 6 was unveiled and released for the Xbox 360, that I would get to enjoy of my favorite arcade styled racing game again. Earth Defense Force 2017 - A Sweet Shooter!

Add Comment

If you are as sick and tired of seeing the same old shooter over and over again, with just a minor variation between different, often overlapping and historically inaccurate World War Two themes, then join the club, because I am too! So when a gaming company, in this case Sandlot and D3, decide to make something that screams originality and difference, and that offers a unique approach the calamity and boredom the quite often is commonplace in the shooter genre, one has to pick up the controller, and pop the game into their Xbox 360 and say, “To hell with it, here goes.” This was my mindset as I rented and decided that I would devote at least an hour of my time to Earth Defense Force 2017, and you know what, I became haplessly hooked on a decent all around shooter that certainly garners my approval, and I will happily tell you why!

In a nutshell, you will find yourself in the body of a Japanese soldier who is faced with the overwhelming odds of defending his smaller, island country against a massive and worldwide alien invasion.

Dance Dance Revolution Universe: The best Dancing Game Ever

Add Comment

Not that this game has ever truly had much or any competition, does not mean that it still is not an awesome game that is truly original; as original as Guitar Hero or Rock Band. And the game has experienced little change since the days where throngs of quarter pumping neophyte arcade goers would line up awaiting their turn to get their asses handed to them by a fifteen year old Asian kid who could not be beat. But this time the game comes into your living room, adorned with a dance mat and everything that you need in order to become the best damn dancer on the planet freaking earth.

The premise of the game is rather simple. Plug in the mat and follow the dancing light patterns on the screen with your feet, like Twister meets Dancing with the Stars. Hit the wrong shapes and you lose points for bad form. Hit the right shapes and you can dance your way into the championships, where a computer generated Asian kid will give you a serious heave ho and run for your money.

If you ask me I am not so sure why Atari even bothers making video games anymore, because of the past several Atari mishaps that I have had the distinct unpleasantness of encountering, I always end up removing them from my Xbox 360 console shaking my head in disdain, a profound wondering and serious pondering follows, one that makes me think: why make such a shoddy video game when you could easily take your budget for five lousy games on the production agenda for that year and merge them into one awesome and lucrative budget, and then make a truly fantastic game like Bethesda constantly does.

Just ask the bigwig companies, like Atari used to be during the video gaming days of yesteryear, and you will quickly find out that some of the most successful companies, like Rockstar and Bethesda, always place their eggs in one basket working on a truly innovative game that they spend years designing.

Prey – An Innovative and different, First Person Shooter

I must honestly admit that I expected far less out of the conceptualized Native American, first person shooter, Prey, than I had thought that Venom Games, Human Head Studios or 2k Games could ever fully deliver. And at the same time Prey is one of the oddest games that I have ever had the distinct pleasure of booting up in my Xbox 360 console. Being that it was one of the earlier games for the 360, and that it did not have very much hype at all surrounding its release, not many people were expecting a whole lot from Prey, myself included amongst the skeptics.

The game puts you in the shoes of a ripped Native American chap who works by day as mechanic at the auto body shop on the reservation, and by night is a local at the bar. For some weird reason however, the bar is filled with white racists who try to start a fight with you, which I found to be very odd and out of place on an Indian Reservation. However, it’s a video game so I didn’t fret over it all too much.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End – Strike Three for the Pirates Video Games

Add Comment

Ah yes, yet another video game after movie failure that could not even find successes even though its movie parent was one of the top grossing films of all time, and part of a three part movie series starring the twenty million dollar man – Johnny Depp – which did wonders at the box office. And hey, all of the Pirates movies in my opinion are not bad. Maybe it’s just because I am a big time Depp fan, or maybe it’s because I love the ride at Disney land. Either way, the good rule of thumb to follow here is the often diatribe that you here me complaining about when it comes to video games that follow movies, or TV series: they generally fail to deliver in any way, shape or form.

This could not be any truer when it comes to the 2007 Disney Interactive Studios and Eurocom release of: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

Pocketbike Racer—Burger King Strikes Again—Decent Racing Game (NOT!)

Add Comment

I have a major quip with Burger King on a number of levels. Firstly, they claim that all of their meats are flame broiled, but you can clearly see them putting them in the microwave when you order them – not that I ever recommend to anybody clogging their arteries with fast food. Secondly, they use some of the scariest advertising methods that I have ever seen, and tantamount to their frozen and microwavable burgers and stale buns, they think its genius to use a scary dude dressed up like a king with an enema smile on his face breaking into people’s homes and serving them some fat-filled, calorie-rich disgusting meals for breakfast. Okay, got the King out of my system – you scary clod you; back to the point, however.

Around the end of 2006, many of the Burger King commercials that were advertised on TV were promoting a new series of exclusive Burger King video games that were made just for the Xbox 360. Like Sneak King and others.

Armored Core 4: Decent Mechanized Warrior Game, But Not Without its Flaws

Add Comment

If anybody can remember the mechanized warrior game, Chrome Hounds, then you will hate Armored Core 4. Mostly because the control sets are vastly different, and because Chrome Hounds was a big time hit long before this game was ever released, and has become an Xbox 360 classic of high caliber. Also because the entire interface is different, and the game offers more dumbed down graphics—somehow even though it was released about a year after Chrome Hounds—and an entirely different style of combat that may turn off many gamers who are avid fans of the Chrome Hounds franchise.

Perhaps one of the most notable changes to the control sets is that in this fourth edition they changed them up greatly. Why video game companies do this on a continuing franchise series is entirely beyond me. Gamers get used to a control set that sweeps through three editions the same, and then they go and screw it up using a new control set that nobody knows. What lame brain tester came up with that genius idea?

Avoid the Xbox 360 Proprietary Console Malfunctions by Purchasing a Pre-Mod Unit

If only Microsoft had made a quality Xbox 360 console, millions of gamers would be far happier I think. But they really cut corners as much as humanly possible and the ending results are a lackluster unit that quite often breaks down during the first twelve months of usage. Although Microsoft much prefers it breaks after a year so they don’t have to provide free warranty work to the customers they are so busy ripping off.

Why the Xbox Malfunctions
The Xbox has a poor and shoddy heat synch attached to the motherboard which is supposed to cool the unit down effectively. On the bottom of the motherboard there are two x-shaped clamps that are supposed to prevent the board from bending when hot. The clamps don’t do their job properly and the ending results are the motherboard bends and loosens the soldering on the chips. After a few months of this, the red rings of death appear and the motherboard must be removed and repaired.

What Microsoft is doing about it?
Nothing at all, that is what.

Add Comment

With the year of 2008 officially in the books, it’s time to take a brief look back at all of those crud-filled games that were released for the Xbox 360 video game console. I have played more than 400 games on the Xbox 360, and in my opinion, out of all of them in the entire collection, these ones were quite possibly the worst games of 2008. I find it quite surprising that some of these games even had a budget, how you get people sold on something so shoddy is literally beyond me. So if you were ever wondering what the worst games of the last year were, these two ones easily top the list my friends. And I threw in one for the original Xbox that was still haunting me for its lameness.

Sneak King: And the ‘Lamest Game of 2008 Award’ official goes to this lackluster piece of garbage, and that is being nice folks.

Top Three Xbox 360 Games of 2008

So many games, so little time to burn out your thumbs and acquire a case of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) playing them. But if you are like me, and your wrists are more worn out than a ninety year old carpenter, then you already know that there are ample amounts of great games that were released for the Xbox 360 during 2008. Of course, it would be far too lengthy for me to ever truly list them and yap about all of them for you in this blog. So I have been forced to boil it down to what I believe are the top three Xbox 360 games of 2008.

Top Three Xbox 360 Games of 2008
Grand Theft Auto IV:
This game truly takes the wholly cake and the icing too for the best damn game ever to be created. You play a cunning and illegal Russian immigrant who must forge his way through the unforgiving alleyways of New York City, dubbed Liberty City for this game. You can pretty much do everything.

Top Ten Reasons Why Xbox 360 Needs Improvements

Add Comment

There are so many different ways that they could go about improving the Xbox 360 gaming console, that it is not even funny. And while I wish that I could say that most of the problems that have occurred on the console have been because of rushed production, or common oversights, these are not the culprits. Rather, the monopoly that is Microsoft has once again proven why the masses are benevolently opposed to the ‘Gates’ philosophy on software and hardware. That being: use the masses as your guinea pig and when your lousy software or hardware malfunctions do nothing to fix it until you release another more costly version that they can use, which has its own fare share of bugs. Kind of like the Windows Vista shuddery.

Top Ten Reasons Why Xbox 360 Needs Improvements

1. Shoddy Construction: They have made the Xbox 360 to be built quickly and for the least amount of money as possible, so the resulting tragedy is that it breaks way too often.

When Will there be a Red Faction for the Xbox 360? – Soon!

Add Comment

Calling all you avid shooter fanatics, myself included, out there who have been rampant fans to the original Xbox smash hit shooter, Red Faction and Red Faction II – they are finally working on the new Red Faction, due out for the Xbox 360 gaming console sometime during the middle or end of 2009, and I could not be more giddy with anticipation over what it will bring to all of us anxious gamers out there. Then again, after seeing how they destroyed some familiar two player aspects of Far Cry with the release of Far Cry 2, I am also hesitant to get too excited for Red Faction in fears that they may take away more than they add in the end.

About Red Faction
The main premise of the game is that you are a soldier in the future, about 2100-2200 AD where the world is at war and your country is under the control of a dictator who is a fascist jerk that rules with an iron fists and kills anybody who gets in his way.

What Went Wrong with Rainbow Six Vegas 2?

Add Comment

One of the largest shooters to debut in 2008 was Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but the hype aside, there were many ways that this sequel failed to live up to all that it promised. To clarify to all of you who love shooters out there, and especially to all other fans of the Rainbow Six franchise: I love Rainbow Six Vegas – I am big time fan of all of the games in the Clancy series and have been playing them since they first made their way to the consoles of yesteryear on the Nintendo 64. But, when you take an awesome game like Rainbow Six Vegas and you screw up a lot of it with a rushed and shoddy sequel, you are going to hear me whine about it. So, without any more waiting, here are my gripes and my likes.

The Improvements
First of all I would like to take note of some of the improvements that they made with this sequel, which they admitted during several different interviews with the popular gaming magazines that Rainbow Six Vegas 2 was more like an expansion pack than a sequel, but on to the improvements.

Screwed if You Do, Video-Game-Less if You Don’t: The Flaws Between PS3 and Xbox 360 Gaming Consoles

Add Comment

If you have not been keeping up with the numerous gaming console forums and blogs, all which are inundated with angry posts from pissed off and super perturbed consumers who got bilked out of hundreds of dollars at a time by placing their trust in the two largest video game console manufacturers, Sony and Xbox – then read on, because I aim to tell you all about this ridiculous load of mish mash people! Where to begin, where to begin, oh, I know, let’s start by talking about Sony’s Playstation 3, and go from there. And believe you me, it’s quite a story, more or less a scam at any rate.

What Goes Wrong with PS3
The PS3 has a Blu-ray device that comes with the system, which was the biggest feature that Sony lauded when they initially released the console. However, large item games like Fallout 3, and Call of Duty 4, cause the system to hang and crash.

NCAA 2009 Versus Madden 2009 – Why Are There Differences?

If you are a football nut and you are a hapless fan of the EA Sports football franchises, then you already know that there are some pretty major differences between the juggernaut games that represent the college and the professional football versions of the popular sports—in their video game format. And seeing how both of these popular games are both developed and designed by teams at the EA Sports buildings, and how they both drive off the same engine for a basis, how in the heck are there, and more importantly why are there so many differences between the interfaces and game play options.

They are both made by EA so What Gives?
Both games were developed by the EA Sports studio, which is responsible for creating all of the sports games in the EA franchise. But they vary greatly when it comes to game play. For example, NCAA 09 will allow you to massively sub out players when you are kicking the crap out of a lesser team, but Madden does not.

Madden 2009 for Xbox 360 Still Needs Some Work

Add Comment

The NFL loving sports fanatic world of video gamers eagerly anticipated the release of EA Sports Madden NFL 2009 for almost an entire year. But after hurriedly ripping the shrink wrap packaging off and discarding the Microsoft seal, I was abound with joy and the similar letdown that I have experienced with all previous Madden Franchises. And it seems that the dudes over at EA, while they have made a pretty decent video game, have also made it entirely clear that they do not keep their ears to the ground when avid gamers complain of common problems with their games. That being said, here is my scoop on Madden NFL 2009 for the Xbox 360 gaming console.

What they Did Wrong – Or Could do better!
I know that they only have about twelve months at best to release the next version of the game, but how do you go backwards when you already have a 20 game series of platforms and code to build on? For starters the training mode in the Franchise game play is terrible. Last year’s was great, the graphics were good and the players looked real.

Why There is Never 2-Player Same Console Games for Xbox 360 – Hoax Revealed

Have you ever wondered why there is entirely a huge lacking in the two player department for newer Xbox 360 games? And no, I am not talking about two player games enabled via Xbox Live – that is nice and dandy. But what I am talking about are two player Xbox 360 games that can be played off the same console. It seems that with every single passing year, month, or week that newer Xbox 360 games are introduced, they commonly lack one thing in comparison: some freaking 2 player same console play, like the video games of our trodden past! But why is this the newest trend in Xbox 360 games?

Why Most Games are Single Player
It really boils down to a few issues in particular. The gaming companies that develop and create these video games struggle to merge vast playing fields into an engine that the Xbox 360 will be capable of handling for two players on the same console. And at the same time, they are constantly trying to make games for the Xbox 360 bigger, longer, more realistic and better. Okay, so this I entirely understand.

Have you seen the newest release from the juggernaut software company, Bethesda? The company has recently been garnering much praise from the video gaming community as a whole for their fantastically successful debut of ‘Elder Scrolls: Oblivion’ which was one of the best selling video games of all time, and has been lauded by many as one of the best role playing or RPG games of all time. And now, Bethesda Software is hard at work again, this time bringing to the eager video gaming world their next latest and greatest RPG innovation: Fallout 3.

Why Change the Old – Just Make it Better!
With Fallout 3 does come some new innovations in the RPG subset that can be classically attributed to Elder Scrolls; the interface, interactions, maps, item menus and many other features are very similar to those found in the hit game Elder Scrolls, but have been revamped and greatly improved upon to make the game easier to use.
