And the party continues as XBLA releases one more big player. Of course all the die-hard arcade gamers know what I am referring to – Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Developed by Backbone Entertainment, it promises to be hours of button-bashing happiness for fans (alright, so those are really strategically played out moves and combos... just keep in mind that some of us are quite fond of button bashing).
Well, what can you say about such en epic PvP fighter game? The graphics are snazzy and you get to choose from a nifty list of 56 characters. Some noteworthy characters are Blackheart ( Mephisto's baby boy ), creepy old Dhalsim, Gambit and Dr. Doom. There are of course the usual favorites like Wolverine and War Machine but the point is, you will have a field day trying out everyone's special moves and kicks.
There is currently a debate going on about the unlock feature provided in the full version. Apparently, unlike the old game, you get everything (characters etc.) at once as opposed to bashing your way through opponents, level by level, to get new goodies. Frankly, I would be a bit upset about it. Surely there is a considerable percentage of gamers who buy games for single player mode? And who love that the sense of achievement you get when you wrap up something tough? Case in point - Rocket Riot. But then, as some users pointed out, some folks would prefer having a wide array of options. You know, this way they can crack their knuckles and dive right into the online multiplayer mode.
In either case, you have been warned ... or given really good news. Go check it out. It's available for 1200 MS points.
