If you’re looking for some fun Halloween video games, here are a few must-trys this year:

Silent Hill. Sure, it’s been around since forever; I remember my cousin being obsessed with it when I was a kid. The noises and fog in the game make it scary enough, let alone all of the creepy people in the game. In the game, you go through schools and hospitals where scary mannequin creatures reside, making lots of players cringe. Some people think it’s one of the scariest games ever, and I tend to agree with that from what I’ve seen.

Condemned. In this game, there are insane people whom you have to investigate as a detective. The setting is a bunch of abandoned buildings, and these psychopaths jump out randomly while you attempt to solve a murder, making you leap back from the television.

Doom 3. Recently Doom 3 was dubbed one of the scariest games every played. A portal to hell opens up and demons take over the earth, so it’s no wonder some people claim to have nightmares inspired by the film.

Zombie shooter games: There are plenty of these to choose from. The Left for Dead series follows four survivors with different campaign scenarios, where players go from safehouse to safehouse until they are rescued. Many different zombies are in the game, such as a smoker zombie who coughs to let you know he is there. The witches are the scariest creatures, however; if you hit them with a flashlight, they’ll come screeching at you with their claws—and they are very hard to kill off.

Resident Evil. Before these were made into movies, these survival games focus on avoiding and killing mutants, people affected by viruses, and zombie-like people. In the game, you must fill out a lot of puzzles and games to solve each level, making it a good brain engaging game as well.

Dead Island:  Though I haven’t yet played this game, it sounds like a lot of fun—and people seem to love it so far.

Dead Rising:  In this game, you play in a mall during an outbreak, but you can pick up any item in the mall to use as a weapon, making it funny while it’s scary. For example, you can choose a shopping cart or a chainsaw—or kill zombies with a teddy bear. You can also dress up in various clothing from the mall.
