Godfather II: The Best Free-World Mafia Game Ever!

1 New Comment: Join In!

This game has it all: violence, criminal enterprises, newer and more improved cars, especially the physics and how they handle, and one of the largest free-world cities to ever be created for any game. Considering that Grand Theft Auto IV is the biggest rival to this franchise, EA more than likely felt that they had to go above and beyond anything that they had ever done before in order to at least provide some form of competition to the juggernaut that is GTA and Rockstar. And guess what? They fully deliver on all levels.

Better camera angles provide much more depth to the playing field. There are more things to do, namely by allowing you to build your family, create ‘Made Men’ and constantly expand your criminal enterprise to the farthest reaches possible—not to mention plenty of new and nifty weapons to use! While the game borrows a bit here and there from the movie series, it really shouldn’t be confused as a classic game after movie title. Read more

Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage & The Pitt: Three Games in One (Best 09’ Value)!

Fallout 3 is a monster of a game that took nearly four years to make and has several games (two) that are a bit different which preceded it. Bethesda (the maker of the game) took their sweet time creating one of the largest and most graphically superb free-worlds to ever be designed. They didn’t stop there. Tons of different weapons enhance game play and the gore factor is at a max – you can even shoot heads off bodies, limbs from torsos and blow up your friends or foes into smithereens and goop. In short: Fallout 3 is the most exciting, graphically awesome and interactive free-world role playing game to ever hit the store shelves. If you have not played it yet, do so and soon! But wait…it gets better, there are now two expansions for this game…see below!

Operation Anchorage
While this expansion was rather lousy, in that you must enter a simulated version of a war and beat it, it does add more to the game. Read more

Why are more Newer Versions of Games Totally Different Than Their Predecessors?

Be the First to Comment!

I know that I am getting old as a gamer when I hear myself fretting about the always changing industry. However, there are some changes that simply don’t make any sense to me at all! For example, when games are radically different, and have spanned a series on the same console, and the newer versions offer less features than their predecessors did. Then what am I (or you) supposed to think? Why take more away and give us less and call it more? Why eliminate sought after features that made such games great? Let’s take a look at three culprits that have done this recently, shall we?

Far Cry 1 and 2
While both versions of this game are great, the first offered closed level boards. It offered an easy to use level builder and same console multiplayer. The second is a massive free-world board that doesn’t relate at all to the storyline of the first. Read more

Most Playable Multiplayer Shooters: Rainbow Six Vegas (1 & 2), Perfect Dark & Far Cry

Far Cry
What made this game great was threefold. Insane online death matches with tons of people. Same console multiplayer death matches with up to four persons. And finally, the ability to create your own virtual worlds down to the smallest details—you could play them online against others on the same console versus your friends when at home! The level-builder makes this game a timeless hit for the ages!

Perfect Dark
This is one of the oldest games for the Xbox 360 and one of the best shooters ever made! You will always hear me talking great about it because it rocked, and still does! This is one of the only games that allowed you play death matches as up to four people (signed in as guest gamer tags) on Xbox Live. You could also play the solo campaign cooperatively. Read more

Are you a guitar hero? Can you rock the colored buttons on the guitar shaped controller faster than anybody else? Did you know that thousands of bars and other venues around the world now host Guitar Hero championships with fat cash and other prizes? The best part, perhaps, about this game is that you can listen to you favorite songs of all time while you play a virtual guitar to them. And even though there is an element of fakeness to the whole experience, somehow it does feel a bit uplifting and oddly fulfilling in the end!

Top Five Reasons why Guitar Hero Rocks!
1. You can rock out to your favorite tunes while mimicking their playability on a plastic guitar. With that axe hanging from your shoulders, many times it does permeate the feeling of being a rock star; the virtual crowd helps too!
2. Two people can battle against each on the same Xbox 360 console and at the same time. Read more

Rev your engines, pull back the throttle and squeal the hell out of there, burning rubber as you pit yourself against some of the priciest and most lavish racing bikes on the planet. Amazing graphics will even depict chunks of concrete, asphalt and dirt flying in your wake. As you careen around corners and begin to master the element of dragging your bike by braking at the appropriate times, you will realize several things! Those realizations being: MotoGP 06 is real fun! It has awesome graphics, and its really easy to play, and getting better only takes a little bit of time. If you love racing games, particularly motorcycle racers, you should at least rent this puppy!

Two More Reasons to Play GTA IV!

1 New Comment: Join In!

As if you needed anymore reasons to play one of the best free-world games ever to be created, let me provide you two more candid reasons as to why! The wonderful thing that separates the newer Grand Theft Auto (IV) from the older one (San Andreas) is that unlike the Xbox version, the Xbox 360 version has exclusive downloadable, expandable content from Microsoft. I know (whine), all of you Sony cats get screwed with downloaded content. But, for those of you who love the Xbox 360 (me), the future is shining bright indeed.

Two More Reasons to Play GTA IV: In so many words, there are two expansions, one that is available and one that is coming towards the end of 2009. And, you can easily expect them to keep dishing them out in the years to come!

1. The Lost and the Damned: You are pitted in the shoes of a motorcycle gang leader who has just gotten out of rehab. Read more

Gun: A Wild West, GTA-Styled, Action-Packed Adventure for All!

Be the First to Comment!

Rarely do you see any Wild West shooters for any video game system anymore, or ever for that matter. Much less do you see them debut on the Xbox 360. But if you will take a trip back in time with me for a moment, let’s revisit one of the better, first person shooters to ever make its way to the next generation video gaming consoles, namely the Xbox 360, shall we?

Gun offers amazing graphics and a huge, Wild West free world that you could explore on foot or horseback. You are the son a hunter that becomes entangled in a conspiracy that threatens to derail peace with the native tribes and pit the west into another civil war. When your father is killed by thugs, you decide to embark upon a quest to clear his name and figure out just what the hell happened. Amazing graphics and a brilliant plot augment this classic shooter that is most certainly one of a kind.

The controls take a bit to get the hang of, namely with the shooting aspects. Read more

Best Sports Games of 2009 – EA Sports Wins Them All! (Well…almost!)

NCAA Football 2009
The best damn college football game to ever be created, and they remembered to put the mascot mode back in where you can play as all of the mascots in the NCAA! The BCS scoring system as flawed as it is in real life—so don’t get your heads up if you favor small time teams. The create-a-player feature has been enhanced, and scouting has never been easier. Live play has always rocked on this franchise and the announcers are first rate. Sometimes it’s even more fun to play than Madden, if you like college ball that is!

Madden NFL Football 2009
You can’t get a better NFL football game than this, much to the dismay of 2K naysayers around the world! The graphics are superb and even better if you have a high definition TV. The sounds are great. The sports commentary needs work but kills the radio-style crap from the last version. Gang tackles, more intelligent players and AI, and some enhanced playbooks are win-win.
