Kameo: Elements of Power – Shortest Game Play Ever!
The first thing that you will notice is the graphics are amazing on this game and look even better with a high definition television set at your disposal. But what is the most tried and true conundrum of any next generation video game: great graphics do not ever equate to the game itself having much to offer. So, with that notion in mind, I do present to you a graphically superb game that pretty much sucks big time in the end! You are Kamoe and must turn into any ten flora or fauna based alter-egos—like plants, fire and so forth…bored yet?
The game moves in and out of being a strategy based, puzzle thriller to a becoming a first person ass kicker with sloppy camera angles. And fast frame rates do not help you to be able to see what you are doing any better. Popular rumors relate that this title has actually been in the development box for the better part of the past twenty years? Not sure how much truth there is to any of those. And to further those rumors, apparently this game was actually supposed to be released on the Atari 2600…again how true remains to be seen. But take twenty years to give us this game and this is it? Really? Are you kidding? Next please!
“While a nifty idea, this game bothers me in a number of ways. Boring mini boards and puzzles don’t take much to solve. Far too many onscreen prompts assure that the makers of this game assumed that anybody who was playing was retarded. Decent graphics don’t compensate for a game that offers about a whopping ten solid hours of playing time to and wants you to shell out a fat sixty bucks to get your hands on it. I even have trouble recommending that you rent this game as who the hell cares about ten measly hours of playing time? That aside, you can’t even unlock the co-op mode until you beat it on solo, and once you do, you will wish you had not because it blows! In the end the only element of power that I derived from this game was pushing the “Power” button to off on my Xbox 360, packaging it back up in the case, and sending it back the video rental store…good riddance!”
My Score: 6.2 out of 10
