The SimpsonsIf you are as avid of a fan as I am of the Simpsons then you will love the newest game that has finally made its way to the next generation video gaming consoles. The Simpsons: The Game is the latest foray of the animated and colorful family from Springfield, brought to you and to life on the Xbox 360 by none other than Electronic Arts. The game has a rather lengthy intro that looks nearly identical to the cartoon, meaning that the animations and the frame rates are about identical to those that you see on TV, and sometimes they are even better.

In the beginning Bart is caught playing a mature adult video game called Grand Theft Springfield – when Marge catches him and takes it away. Throughout the game, you will explore the lives of all of the lovable family, from Homer – where you are taken on an adventure in his dream about cakes, candies and marshmallows, to Bart riding around on his skateboard getting into trouble all over the place. The game does a great job of incorporating nearly all of the characters that have ever been seen in the show’s many seasons into the video game; some of the characters you may not even remember.

I was quite impressed, I must say with this game. I have and still am, and always will be, a huge fan of the Simpsons television show. But in many cases the games have always blown or sucked in one way or another. But when it comes to The Simpsons: The Game, for the Xbox 360 and other next generation video gaming consoles, that mantra of previously sucking has finally been quelled. The game offers plenty to do, lots of hours of game play, and you can play two players on the same console in a cooperative, split screen mode—sweet!

“The Simpsons are brought to life beautifully by Electronic Arts in what is quite possibly the best Simpsons game ever to be brought to a video game console. All avid fans and lovers of the TV show will rejoice when they can finally enjoy their favorite cartoon video game with graphics that are nearly better than the actual cartoon that you see on TV. A surefire win for EA – excellent work!”

My Score: 6.9 out of 10
