Saints Row – Another Terrible GTA Rip-Off Bites the Dust!

The Japanese and the Chinese have the right mindset when it comes to the illustrious notions of what is commonly referred to as the nice way to rip off a candid and originally idea: reverse engineering. But when the Asians reverse engineer a product, like a car or a TV or a computer, they make it better than the original. Which is why so many people drive Toyotas or buy Sony products. So when it comes to a video game, here is a good rule of thumb: don’t rip off a game and do it shoddily and then expect gamers like me not to call you on your ruckus, because when you do make a bad rip off and it clearly shows, you are just making ample fodder for my many reviews to bite your game into pieces and tell my readers exactly how it really is. So now, getting back on track, when it comes to the worst rip off game that I have ever seen, Saint’s Row – this notion is so true it makes me shriek.

Think of the worst version of Grand Theft Auto that you could ever do, and make it suck even worse, and you have Saints Row. Except, unlike GTA, which is amazing, this game has terrible graphics, far less gun selection, fewer cars, and the driving is sketchy at best, and the free world board is much more limited and has fewer places that you can go inside of and do things. They really modeled this game after the original Xbox smash hit by Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – which placed you in the shoes of a gang banger who returns to the video game version of LA and has to restore order to the streets. Well Saints Row is as rip off as you can get. You are a gangster trying to make your way up the ranks by stealing cars, selling drugs, thwarting the cops and nearly everything that you had to do in San Andreas, only the graphics, the narrative, the plot, the controls, the everything about it sucks all around.

Shame on you Volition and THQ, its called San Andreas, if you are going to steal an idea do it better than the original. I found this game to be very boring, the missions were dull and the entire time that I played it I noticed slow frame rates, choppiness like the ocean, and nothing original whatsoever to make note of. The driving controls are so sloppy that it makes you hate driving cars. And you can’t fly planes or helicopters, or ride bikes, nothing. In fact all this game has to offer is the worst rip off of GTA you will ever see and poorly done at that. If you expected more from the second game – see future reviews on Saints Row Two – your money is much better spent on GTA IV.

"My thoughts: don’t waste even a penny on this lackluster piece of garbage, poor excuse for a game!"

My Score: .5 out of 10

Your firewall settings may be blocking the download. Make sure your Windows firewall is turned off, and that any other firewalls are turned off. Then download and install it, and then turn your firewalls back on. Let me know if this fixes the problem. I am not that familiar with GTA for the PC as this is an Xbox only blog. However try posting your questions on Gameheadblog.com for a more appropriate answer.
