After Frying 7 Xbox 360’s – Here is How to Legally Beat the System Once and For All!
You read the title of this article right, I have fried successfully more than seven Xbox 360 consoles over the course of less than four years; three in fact over the past year. I have had them repaired. I have had the mod done. I have even had the Artic Silver coating applied. They still break. In fact, I finally broke down today and bought a new one just so I can keep reviewing games for you all on this site. After getting burned so many different times, there is in fact a way to beat the system and get a new Xbox for only thirty bucks every time it fries.
Why Xbox 360’s Get the Red Rings of Death (RROD)
The Xbox 360 is made cheaply. The heat synch that is supposed to cool the motherboard does not have enough thermal sealing on it. As a result the motherboard heats up too much. This causes the soldering on the main chips to heat up and become loose over time. Eventually the thing stops working. When it does, and you start up your console, it will display three red rings, more commonly lamented as the ‘Red Rings of Death.’
What is Microsoft Doing About it?
To be quite frank, the nice fellows over at Microsoft are doing absolutely nothing about this dilemma. They figure that the more people who break their Xbox 360 consoles due to RROD, the more money they can make selling them new ones. Additionally, they plan on working out the kinks for their newest, yet to be titled and yet to be released system that will make its way to the market more than likely during 2012 or 2013. Maybe even later if they can figure out a way to milk the market for even more bucks off the Xbox 360 consoles. The RROD problem has become so widespread, in fact, that Microsoft is currently the party of a class action lawsuit against them, several actually, forged by peeved gamers who feel they got bilked—and indeed they, we, did—from Microsoft by making a system and selling it when they knew it to be faulty.

The Cheapest, Most Cost-Effective Way to Beat the System
So after killing, effectively, seven Xbox 360 systems over the course of three or four years, yes that’s roughly two systems per year, I have figured out the best way to beat the system, legally and for the least amount of money spent. Always buy your Xbox 360 console at Best Buy. They cost $200 for the Arcade console; because you already own the other add ons like the hard drive, controllers, etc. Then add the two year warranty that will cover any failure. If your Xbox breaks, and trust me it will break within two years, simply box it up and take it back to Best Buy and get a new one. Then spend about $29.95 on a new warranty. That is cheaper than any repair and you get a new Xbox 360 console, for less than thirty bucks every time thereafter. This is, sadly, is the only way to really beat Microsoft at their own game.

That 2 year warranty has been
That 2 year warranty has been changed now buddy! You used to be able to walk into BB with a fried XBOX and exchange it, now they send it in to have it fixed, no more replacement. Evidentally when BB sends it in for repairs it only takes a week to get it back however as opposed to three to six weeks when sending it in to Micosoft.
ANSWER:
Kenny, thanks for your comment. You are right, in some cases they will send it in for repairs, but they test it in the back room first. If they find that it can be repaired they will send it off. But about 50% of the time they just issue you a new Xbox 360.
