Hitman: Blood Money – Strikes Gold in my Book
If you like assassin movies and always wondered what it would be like to be that person that cares not for what or whom he kills or destroys and has absolutely no conscious, then you will adore Hitman: Blood Money. Io Interactive offers a decent video game that is adorned with all of the goodies. A shooter, a strategy based thriller and a game that will make you a hard, cold blooded killer. You are a hitman, who has been raised in a secret government project for one purpose: kill people that get in the way, and do so quietly.
Oh and before I get too far on this review, if you loved the other games in this series, this one will leave your tongue lolling out of your mouth because it is that much better than any other Hitman in the series. The game utilizes the most out of the power of the Xbox 360 gaming consoles, and it clearly shows in the advanced graphics, awesome shading, no clipping or choppiness and a very intuitive control set that makes playing this game both easy to learn and really fun simultaneously.
As you progress throughout the game the boards will get harder and harder to beat, and your mission objectives will greatly increase. The best part about hitman is that there are a number of different ways that you can take down your target. They are all presented to you during the mission briefing, where you can choose the weapons that you want to take with you on your killing mission. From time to time stealth will be the main factor of your mission. Get caught and you fail the mission and have to start from scratch. There is even a mission near the end where you must kill an ex-mobster who is in the witness protection program. This board will leave you scratching your head as to how to go about completing it successfully. In another board, you are in Marti Gras festival and must take out your target while pushing your way through hordes of partiers.
Basically you have two options for kills: go silent, sleek and stealth. Or go balls-to-walls, lock and loaded ballistic. It’s your choice. The stealthier that you kill a target, the more money that you are paid. Get more money, and you can unlock more weapons. Ultimately you will be able to unlock the silenced pistols, which make the game that much easier to beat. They also added a few new weapons to this game like the piano wire, which you can strangle enemies with, alongside a few other unique and new weapons that have not been seen before in Hitman.
I loved this game so much that I had to play it twice. And while it’s not without its certain faults, like closed boards and such. All in all they did a great job. It’s definitely worth renting and even worth owning if you find that much appeal in it, I did.
My Score: 7.8 out of 10
