Why There is Never 2-Player Same Console Games for Xbox 360 – Hoax Revealed

Have you ever wondered why there is entirely a huge lacking in the two player department for newer Xbox 360 games? And no, I am not talking about two player games enabled via Xbox Live – that is nice and dandy. But what I am talking about are two player Xbox 360 games that can be played off the same console. It seems that with every single passing year, month, or week that newer Xbox 360 games are introduced, they commonly lack one thing in comparison: some freaking 2 player same console play, like the video games of our trodden past! But why is this the newest trend in Xbox 360 games?

Why Most Games are Single Player
It really boils down to a few issues in particular. The gaming companies that develop and create these video games struggle to merge vast playing fields into an engine that the Xbox 360 will be capable of handling for two players on the same console. And at the same time, they are constantly trying to make games for the Xbox 360 bigger, longer, more realistic and better. Okay, so this I entirely understand. However, what plagues me is the lack and going away of the two player same console Xbox 360 game shooters, for instance, Far Cry (the first one) had a great two player same console feature that split the screen so you could host death matches at home – but Far Cry Two can only be played as a multiplayer online.

The Xbox Live Scandal
Perhaps it’s the Xbox Live scandal. Have you heard about this? Most games that used to be two player same console now require you to both own an Xbox 360 gaming console, and require that you both have a valid and current subscription to Xbox Live. And more and more games are being released that only feature multiplayer games on Xbox Live – which most of the time is so glitch ridden and different than console play that many players simply choose to play alone, against the computer.

Another Common Xbox 360 Scam
Here is another common Xbox 360 scam that is shaking the world of avid Xbox gamers everywhere – the RROD (red ring of death; see previous blog entry) scandal that has netted Microsoft corporation yet another in a long string of law suits aimed at the fact that they repeatedly bilk consumers out of money by creating lackluster software, or in this case, a lousy gaming console that overheats, causes homes to burn down, or in most cases just stops working altogether and displays a red ring around the power button. Try sending it in for repair, and about four months later you will get the same faulty unit back at your doorstep.

Don’t You Miss Old School Video Games?
I digress: let’s bring back the fun of the video games of yesteryear. The ones that always hosted two player same console play – isn’t that what made video games rock? Talking smack to your friends over a few beers in the basement while you shot the heck out of each other or, whatever?

Sadly to say, don’t expect to get nostalgic anytime in the near future.
